Writing Challenge - Day 14

Day 14: Write about a person who has influenced your life.

My life has been influenced by so many people, especially the world's high achievers. But if you asked me to pick one, I’d say Syarif Rousyan Fikri. So, who is he?

Well, if you weren’t a ‘20 or ‘21 UTBK fighter, it’s totally normal if you don’t know him. But if you were like me, you’d probably recognize his name. During the global pandemic, Covid-19, he was one of the many people who helped students by offering free classes through his startup, Pahamify. Yep, he’s the co-founder of Pahamify. He’s also the mind behind the YouTube channel Hujan Tanda Tanya (Hutata), which I mentioned in a previous post. In my opinion, he’s on the same level as Sabda PS, the co-founder of Zenius. Both of them are national heroes in education (in my opinions).

So, how has he influenced me?

I’ve already shared the story of how the Hutata channel impacted me (you can read it here). It played a huge role in helping me develop a better mindset — to become a better person, a better human.

Have you ever read someone’s posts and thought, “Damn, this feels so much like me”? That’s exactly how I feel when I read his writings. There’s so much insight and experience in them that I can relate to and learn from. It’s hard to put into words, but I’ve made him a role model for myself. Almost everything he writes resonates with me, and because of that, I feel I can grow by absorbing his thoughts.

I don’t know how far his influence truly reaches, but I’m pretty sure that without his dedication to creating Hutata and Pahamify, I wouldn’t be where I am today. His work has helped me both academically and in life as a whole. It feels like he’s introduced me to how complex life is and how to face it with resilience and positivity.

It’s rare to find someone who not only inspires but also provides practical tools for navigating life. Through his experience and insights, he has shown me the value of education, perseverance, self-improvement, and life itself. For that, I’m deeply grateful.
