Writing Challenge - Day 4
Day 4: Reflect on something that makes you feel grateful.
For me, gratitude is something that fluctuates, it’s not constant. Maybe today I feel incredibly grateful for everything I’ve been given, but the next day, I might suddenly feel frustrated with myself or unhappy about what’s happening around me. So, let me narrow down my gratitude only to the present moment.
I feel deeply grateful that I was born into a relatively ideal family and so its environment.
I grew up in a small city where crime and society aren’t as harsh and cruel as they are in bigger cities—enough for me to grow up as a good kid. I wasn’t the type to get into fights (in fact, I’ve never fought with anyone :3) or involved in school brawls, even though some of my friends did. I think my family raised me well and taught me the right mindset and way of thinking.
My family raised me with balance — not too pampered, yet not too strict. I was able to learn about life as it truly is. It wasn’t always easy, but it wasn’t overly difficult either. What I learned is that life can be hard for most of us, and that’s why I need to put in effort if I want more than what I started with.
I’m grateful that this well-raised child grew into someone who values kindness and avoids hurting others. Even though he’s still figuring out how life works, he’s doing his best. As he learns more about himself and the world, he tries not to hurt other's feelings and genuinely wants to help those around him (even if he often ends up disappointed, lol).
In the end, I’m deeply grateful for the foundation my family and its environment have given me. I know that gratitude isn’t constant, but it’s something I want to nurture, one day at a time. Every step, I hope to stay true to the lessons and mindset I’ve been given — to be someone who tries his best, who respects others, and who makes a positive difference, no matter how small.
And for that, I am truly thankful.
